Everything you need to know
The short version: Friday mornings, 30 minutes, a maximum of 12 dancers, and one recital in May.
A calm half hour
Classes run Friday mornings at Antioch Community Church, Big Room, 1803 Briarcrest Dr., Bryan, TX 77802. Each class is 30 minutes, once a week, and capped at 10 to 12 dancers, depending on the level.
Each class moves through rhythm and musicality games, balance and coordination exercises, and the basic ballet positions — then builds toward a short dance for the seasonal performances.
Your first Friday
Getting there
Parking is in the lot in front of the church. The front doors are kept locked for safety and someone will let you into the lobby. The Big Room is off the lobby, and its door is on the side.
A few minutes early
Arrive a little ahead of the start time so your dancer has a moment to settle, use the restroom and get a drink of water before class begins.
During class
Wait in the lobby with your dancer and send her into the Big Room once the door opens. Parents wait in the lobby for the half hour. Both Big Room doors have a small window, so you can watch during class. If a dancer needs the restroom, a teacher helps her find you in the lobby, and you bring her back in when she is done.
Tuition and what else to budget for
Tuition is per dancer for the season, and drops for families with more than one dancer.

The first half of tuition is due on the first day of the fall semester, and the rest on the first day of the spring semester. Plus a $20 deposit per dancer to reserve the spot. It is separate from tuition, and also acts as a supply fee for costume elements and the special events through the year. Recital costumes run roughly $30–40, collected about halfway through the fall. Questions we get asked
What if my dancer misses a class?
We do not hold make-up classes. Please email us when your dancer will be out, so we can give her teachers a heads-up to expect her absence.
How does the deposit work?
The $20 deposit per dancer is due at registration and reserves the spot. It is separate from tuition, and also acts as a supply fee for costume elements and the special events through the year.
The first half of tuition is due on the first day of the fall semester, and the rest on the first day of the spring semester.
Can I split tuition into more payments?
Yes — please get in touch and we will work something out with you.
What is the refund policy?
If you drop on or before the fourth class of either semester, half of that semester's tuition is refunded. After the fourth class tuition is non-refundable — by then it is too late to offer the spot to another dancer. If you have questions, please contact us.
What does my daughter wear to class?
Anything she can move in is fine — typically a leotard and tights, and any sort of skirt or tutu is welcome too. There are no restrictions on colors or styles as long as it is not distracting. Pink ballet shoes.
Where can I find ballet attire?
Target, Walmart, Amazon and Discount Dance Supply all carry it, including ballet shoes, as does any specialty dance wear store in town.
Do parents stay during class?
The only adults in the dance room during class are the teachers, and the director if needed. Parents wait in the lobby. Both Big Room doors have a small window to watch through.
We do allow one parent in the dance room for the first class or two, if a dancer is having a hard time separating or warming up to class.
Can visiting grandparents or family sit in on class?
We ask that all adults, even family visiting from out of town, wait in the lobby during class. This means the fewest distractions and the best quality instruction for our dancers. There are small windows in the dance room doors where friends and family can watch.
There are also several times through the year when friends and family are invited in to watch: a mini-performance at the end of Pumpkin Party in October, all of Watch Me Week in December, and the Spring Recital in May. See performances for dates.
When is the recital?
The Spring Recital is in May, with a dress rehearsal the day before. See the season calendar for exact dates.
How will I hear about class and upcoming events?
Three ways: this website, which is kept current through the season; email; and the Remind app, which sends updates straight to your phone. Ask us for the Remind link if you do not have it yet.
In the dance room and in the lobby
A few small things that keep the half hour calm for fifteen little dancers.
Class rules
- No gum, mints or snacks during class — it keeps the girls safe.
- Help your dancer use the restroom before class starts. If she needs to go during class, a teacher sends her out to the lobby, so please be available to help her and get her back to class.
- Parents, friends and family wait in the lobby during class, so the dancers have as few distractions as possible.
Lobby rules
- You are welcome to use the church lobby during class. Please do not let siblings wander into other areas of the church unsupervised.
- No food in the lobby, please. There is a covered patio outside the front doors for parents and siblings who want to eat during class time.
